Evangelism Ministry


"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor: He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed."

Mission

The mission of the evangelism ministry is to encourage the church to share the gospel and to provide opportunities for the body to serve the congregation, community and the world (Gal. 6:10). Ministries that fall under evangelism include:

Evangelism Ministry Delivery Strategies

  • Friends & Family Sunday (F.F.S)

    • F.F.S. was designed to give the broader membership a fun and effective evangelistic opportunity to friends and family on a quarterly basis. Members are encouraged to invite friends and family members to come and experience a Sunday of Christian love and hospitality, followed by a reception and comments by our pastor in the Fellowship Hall.

  • Door-to-door witnessing

    • In obedience to the 'Great Commission' of Matt 28:16-20 to "make disciples of all men," the door-to-door ministry meets on a monthly or bi-weekly basis to share the gospel through witnessing and distributing Christian literature.

  • Fishes and loaves Food Shelf

    • In accordance to James 2:16 and Matt 25:31-46, it is important to recognize the needs of the broader community as a part of our outreach to the world. Progressive has created a food shelf for families and individuals in need.

  • God's Closet

    • Progressive has teamed up with other local ministries to help meet the rising need for clothing within the church and broader community. All are welcome to the clothing distribution center and all items are provided free of charge.

  • The World Evangelism Class

    • Progressive also offers a class that equips saints to interact effectively with the culture. This course gives members an understanding of major world religions and religious movements and how the best way to share the gospel with person caught up in them.

  • Media Ministry

    • The media ministry is focused on bringing the Gospel to the masses via God's gift of technology. Recorded sermons are output in video and audio formats. A presence on the internet is also maintained through this website which also provides valuable and pertinent information for new comers and long standing Progressive Baptist Church members alike.
